Pakistan, Saudi Arabia Target $3 Billion in Agricultural and Food Exports
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia are moving to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food security, with both countries aiming to raise Pakistan’s agricultural and food exports to the Kingdom to $3 billion within the next two years.
Key Export Sectors Identified
Rice, red meat, fruits and fruit concentrates, green fodder, and water-efficient agricultural technologies have been identified as priority areas under the bilateral cooperation plan.
The initiative is expected to create new opportunities for Pakistani exporters while supporting Saudi Arabia’s growing food-security requirements.
Growing Demand for Pakistani Products
Pakistan already supplies substantial quantities of food products to the Saudi market. Pakistani rice exports to Saudi Arabia reached around 169,000 tonnes in 2025, worth approximately $163 million.
Pakistan also exported nearly 30,000 tonnes of meat, valued at about $167 million, during the same period. Saudi authorities have indicated an interest in significantly expanding meat imports from Pakistan.
Focus on Modern Agricultural Technology
Water-efficient farming technologies will also form an important part of the partnership. The two countries intend to explore modern agricultural solutions that can increase productivity while reducing water consumption.
Such cooperation could help Pakistan improve agricultural efficiency and strengthen the competitiveness of its products in international markets.
Boosting Private-Sector Cooperation
Both sides have emphasized greater involvement from the private sector. Efforts will focus on improving communication between businesses, strengthening trade links and facilitating access for Pakistani agricultural and food companies.
The countries will also work toward greater recognition of quality and certification standards to make bilateral trade more efficient.
Strengthening Economic Ties
The initiative reflects a broader effort by Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to expand economic cooperation through trade, investment and food security.
Achieving the $3 billion export target could provide Pakistani farmers, producers and exporters with greater access to the Saudi market while contributing to the Kingdom’s efforts to secure reliable food supplies.
